Human Readable ToS (part 2)
Tumblr launched a new iOS app, and one of the first things I noticed was the inclusion of ToS guidelines in the app itself, under the Notifications menu.
As with previously mentioned ToS updates, Tumblr did an awesome job translating legalese into human speech. The word-bubble-esque motif is a great visual indicator of this.
One of the subtle things I like, is that the Terms of Service button links to a mobile web page, rather than including the Terms in the app itself. While I generally argue that native beats mobile web, this also ensures that ToS updates don’t necessitate an app update.
From where I’m standing, Tumblr is leading the way on human readable terms and guidelines. Hopefully more companies will see the light.
